Sonja "Sunny" Jane Ulrich, 85, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose kindness, creativity, and warmth brightened the lives of all who knew her.

Born in Burwell, Nebraska, Sunny graduated from Ord High School before pursuing her passion for beauty and style by earning a degree in cosmetology. She later fulfilled her dream of running her own business, proudly owning and operating Image 2000, where she made every client feel special and cared for.

Sunny was a gifted artist who enjoyed painting, drawing, crafting, and creating jewelry. She was also a voracious reader, finding joy and inspiration in books of all kinds. She loved spending time at home, where she admired the beautiful landscape and flowers lovingly grown by her husband, Jerry. Their home was a place of peace, creativity, and family gatherings.

Sunny was preceded in death by her loving parents, John and Margaret Hanks.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jerry Ulrich; loving daughters, Heather Hanke (husband: Chris) and Halley Johnson; her cherished grandchildren, Farren and Greyson Hanke, Kade, Preston, Alaina, and Treg Johnson; her great-grandchildren, Felicity, Graham, and Emylinn Johnson; and her brothers, Doug and Sharon Hanks and Steve and Deb Hanks.

Sunny also had a deep love for animals, especially her dogs, Kane and Rowdy, who brought her endless comfort and companionship.

Sunny's life was one of creativity, kindness, and love—a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
