Theresa M. Shamplo, age 96, of North Platte, NE, a good and faithful servant, passed through Heaven's gates on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Linden court, in North Platte, NE.
Theresa was born to Peter and Julia (McFall) Toner on November 28, 1928, in Detroit, MI. Her dad died when she was very young, and her mom raised her on her own until she was 9 years old when her mom remarried. Theresa grew up in Detroit, MI and attended country school followed by two years at County Normal.
On July 2, 1949, Theresa was united in marriage to Wendell C. Shamplo. To this union, two sons and a daughter were born, Michael, Wendellyn, and James Dean.
In 1955, the family moved to Cypress, CA, where Theresa worked as an egg candler and then began her career for the Orange County Jail as a clerk in the booking department. She retired in December of 1981 as the booking department supervisor. Theresa was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Cypress. Upon moving to North Platte in 1996, Theresa joined the Calvary Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, a leader of Naomi's Sisterhood of Widows, and served on many committees. For several years, Theresa volunteered at the Salvation Army. She was also a fierce prayer warrior and made sure to visit residents of the care centers or those who were being hospitalized with her husband, Wendell. Theresa loved the Lord, her family, and her church family.
Theresa's last year was spent at Linden Court, where she met special people, specifically Miss Jeanne. The nurse's, CNA's, physical therapy, and the Enrichment Ladies, all took great care of her. She loved to give hugs and her smile will never be forgotten!
Theresa is survived by son, Michael Shamplo of North Platte, James Shamplo of Anaheim, CA; daughter, Wende (Patrick) Bailey of North Platte; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Justin) Buhlke of North Platte; grandson, Sean (Sage) Bailey of Bellevue, NE; great grandson, Greyson Buhlke of North Platte; sister-in-law, Joyce Shannon of Pittsford, MI; brother-in-law, James Shamplo of Hillsdale, MI; many nieces and nephews; special family, Brittney, Linda and Doug Woodward.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wendell of 71 years; twin stepbrothers, Alfred and Fred (Addie) Adams; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dean (Effie) Shamplo, Robert Shannon, Margaret (Robert) Bonner, Beverly (John) Mullaly, and Marion Shamplo of MI.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Calvary Baptist Church with Pastors Dave Logsdon and Mike Murray officiating. Burial of ashes will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell at 2 PM. Book signing is Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 9 AM to 5 PM at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church or The Salvation Army. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is entrusted with funeral arrangements.
