Thomas James Hill was born July 23, 1934, in Alliance, NE, to James and Evelyn (Bowen) Hill.  He was raised on the family ranch south of Ellsworth, NE, and attended St. Agnes Academy in Alliance.  Tom worked at an early age for several ranchers before moving to North Platte with his family in 1954.  He worked for John Hurt Chevrolet as manager of his Phillips 66 station.

On June 14, 1957, Tom married Diana Magill in North Platte and to this union, two sons, Rocky and Rick, were born.  In 1969, Tom began working for UPRR as a machinist, a job he looked forward to and enjoyed every day.

Tom was involved in 4H as a leader and with his sons 4H projects.  He also enjoyed spending time with his grown sons and grandkids camping at Big Mac.  Tom loved traveling with their fifth wheel, especially with friends to Husker football games and to Branson, MO.  He took pride in his vehicles and his lawn and was a willing partner in Diana's gardening projects.  After retirement, he and Diana spent several winters in Arizona.

Survivors include his wife, Diana; son, Rick (Lori) Hill of North Platte; grandchildren, Ashley (Justin) Cleveland of North Platte; Brandon (fiancé, Shelby Knode) Hill of North Platte, Troy (Sarah) Lieberth of Smithville, MO, and Jaymie (Tony) Johnson of Sutherland; great grandkids, Landon Cleveland, Jameson Lieberth, Bryer and Brogan Brown; sisters, Mary Wingett of Omaha, Peg (Ron) Schafer of Denver; sister-in-law, Andrea Hill of Denver; numerous other family members and friends.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents; son, Rocky; brother, Alexander Joe; sister, Eula Reigenborn; and an infant brother.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 10 AM at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Job Vigil as officiant.  Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, south of North Platte.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 12 PM to 5 PM at Carpenter Memorial Chapel who is overseeing arrangements.
