IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Timothy D.
Coffman
November 9, 1959 – December 18, 2024
Timothy Dean Coffman passed away at his home on December 18, 2024.
Tim was born in McCook, Nebraska on November 9, 1959 to Dean Coffman and Katheryn "Kay" (Wilkinson) Coffman. Shortly after he was born, the family moved to Denver, Colorado, where he lived until his high school graduation in 1978. After graduating high school, Tim moved to North Platte to work for Union Pacific Railroad like his Grandpa and Uncle and was hired as a conductor in 1978. Shortly after moving to North Platte, Tim met the love of his life, Ruth, while visiting the bank. His persistence won her over and they were married on March 5, 1983. Tim and Ruth welcomed two children, Brad (1988) and Kelsey (1990). Tim shared his love for the outdoors and building/restoration with his children through years of camping, sports, and projects.
After his retirement from UPRR, he never stopped working - he found plenty of projects to keep him busy. He became a grandpa in 2022 and again in 2024 to his two grandchildren, Caleb and Kitt, his grandkids were obsessed with their "Papa" and knew he could fix anything. He built each grandchild a headboard - one from his 1972 Chevrolet pickups original tailgate and the other from the crib that his kids slept in. His creativity and resourcefulness were incredible.
Throughout Tim's life, he had many hobbies and projects. He enjoyed snow and water skiing, hunting and fishing, camping, shooting pool, restoring his 1972 Chevrolet Pickup and his home, and being with his family and grandkids. There was nothing that Tim couldn't fix and he was always looking for ways to make things work more efficiently.
Tim will be remembered for his servant heart and willingness to help anyone that needed it. He worked hard to make sure that everyone around him was cared for. He had a great sense of humor and loved his family deeply.
Tim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harley and Catherine Wilkinson and Minnie and Ernie Coffman; mother Kay King and step father Wayne "Butch" King, and uncle Steve Wilkinson, brother-in-law Vic Lockard, step-sister Brenda King.
Tim is survived by his wife, Ruth Coffman of North Platte, his children, Brad (Beth) Coffman of Omaha and Kelsey (Jake) Sasse of Lincoln, and grandchildren Caleb and Kitt Sasse; sisters Teresa (Mike) Reiber and Tina Coffman, step siblings Tim King, Mike King, and Cindy (Brett) Neal, with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends as well.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Brookestone Hospice. They were crucial and incredibly helpful during Tim's final weeks. We will always be grateful for them and how much they cared and helped.
