Werner "Bud" Jurgen Franzen, 95, of North Platte, NE passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the Florence Home Healthcare Center in Omaha.
He was born on November 28, 1926 in Gothenburg, NE the son of Jurgen Harm and Gustine Alberta (Miller) Franzen.
Bud was married on May 14, 1949 in Gothenburg to Luella "Pat" M. Patterson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. For a short time he moved with his family to Los Angeles, CA where he worked at a full service gas station and attended Bible College along with his wife to become Christian foursquare ministers. The family then moved to Milledgeville, GA where he served as a minister and sold insurance. Bud had a lifelong career in life insurance and car insurance sales which continued when the family moved back to NE at Bob Phares Insurance Agency in North Platte. While in North Platte he helped build and found the Foursquare Gospel Church on A Street. In retirement Bud moved back to his hometown of Gothenburg. He was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed fishing, wild boar hunting while in GA, coin and stamp collecting, and listening to Alan Jackson gospel music.
Those left to cherish Bud's memory are son, Ron (Karla) Franzen of North Platte; daughters, Dianne (Edwin) Nicholas of Glendale, AZ, Pamela Colyer of North Platte, and Cynthia (Steve) Franzen-Wigderson of Temecula, CA; grandchildren, Lesley (David) Okomoto, Shelli Franzen, Kelly Franzen, Keith Nicholas, Greg (Lori) Nicholas, Melissa (Michael) Peterson, and Krista (Aaron) Jore; 12 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat; sister and brother-in-law, Priscilla (Lloyd) Block.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Anne Durboraw officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery near Maxwell. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2 nd at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
