Obituary

Lynn Edwin Riley passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026 at Great Plains Hospital in North Platte, Nebraska.

Lynn was born September 12,1940, at home in Trenton, NE to William Edwin Riley and Grace Harriet Davis Riley.

Graduated from Trenton High School in 1958 and attended University of Nebraska.

Started farming in 1959 with Grandfather Ned A Davis forming a partnership with Riverview Stock Farm raising Shorthorn cattle. Continued farming and ranching with son Deryl raising quality cattle.

Lynn was very active in 4-H starting at age 8 and was a 4-H leader for 25 years. In 1954 he was selected to attend National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago winning trips in both farm demonstrations and electricity.

Served on many boards including Hitchcock County Fair Board, 4-H Council, Hitchcock County Extension Board, Nebraska State Extension Board, Hitchcock County Farm Bureau Board, Trenton School Board, Church Boards in Trenton, NE, Atwood, KS and North Platte, NE.

Lynn enjoyed helping others. Every day he wanted to make someone’s day a little easier and brighter. Family and friends were very important to him. His wife and children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed farming and livestock production. He enjoyed many cattle shows with his children, grandchildren and friends. It was important to him for everyone to see a great herd of cattle.

Married Sharon Kay Seybold 7/24/1960 to this union 3 children were born:

Debra Jane Riley (Wolfram), Deryl Lynn Riley, Kimberly Kay Riley (Aden)

Moved to North Platte, NE in 1998 and was maintenance supervisor for North Platte Airport/Lee Bird Field until 2006. After retiring started a lawn service business while continuing maintenance at the National Weather Service.

Lynn enjoyed woodworking and took several cabinet making classes at North Platte Community College. He enjoyed remodeling our home and making wood projects for his family. His pride and joy was making a grandfather clock from scratch for our home.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edd and Grace Riley, Trenton, Ne, sisters Edna (Joe Miller, John Walters, Floyd Frick), McCook, NE, LaVerna (Hugh) Amann, Atwood, KS, Lolita (Jerry) Biehl, Lexington, NE, Nedine (Bill) Skinner, Gering, Ne, Linda (Gary) Wooters, Ponca City, OK and brother Paul D Riley, Lincoln, NE.

He is survived by wife Sharon, North Platte, NE, children Debra (Greg) Wolfram, Kearney, NE, Deryl (Patricia) Riley, Arapahoe, NE, and Kimberly (Todd) Aden, North Platte, NE, 6 grandchildren Andrew and Katelyn Wolfram, Natasha (Colby) Carpenter, Shane Riley, DeLynn (Austin) Myers and Tyler Aden. 7 great grandchildren Corbin, Cadence, Camden and Chapin Carpenter, Jaxson, Kayson and Jenson Myers along with many nieces, nephews, church families and friends.
